Community Support Centre
The Community Climate Support Centres (CSCs or CSCCAs) were established in the spring of 2024 in Hodonín and Temesvár as a space for local actors, municipal representatives, experts and various initiatives to support and develop local climate protection projects. It is an open space to meet, disseminate and share information and experiences and also as a platform for the future establishment of a regional Climate Council.
These centres facilitate knowledge transfer and support the joint development and implementation of local climate action plans. Experts will provide assistance with data analysis, scenario modelling and identifying appropriate technologies, approaches and solutions. They will also offer advice on financing options and project management skills to help overcome implementation challenges.
A stakeholder engagement plan for local climate protection is developed. We strive to teach local people about sustainable resource management, climate change mitigation strategies, adaptation measures and help with data analysis to monitor changes. Civil society participation plays a crucial role here, as active participation promotes consensus and accountability.
The Community Climate Support Centre in Hodonín
Since the beginning, the Hodonín office of CSC has been providing direct assistance to municipalities in the South Moravian region of Podluží affected by drought, flash floods and tornadoes. In a total of six cooperating municipalities, we support climate-friendly projects such as water retention in landscapes and settlements, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources, or planting green areas in areas affected by natural disasters.
We build on our previous activities in the area and offer municipalities, for example, the free creation of a so-called climate action plan identifying places in the municipalities where often financially unburdensome measures can significantly contribute to improving the microclimate, making the area more pleasant for the inhabitants or reducing energy consumption and thus increasing the resilience of the area. After the previous three action plans, we agreed to develop these climate strategies in the municipalities of Moravská Nová Ves, Prušánky and Hodonín in spring 2024.
In the area of Přední hora in Dolní Bojanovice, following the earlier participatory research and landscape mapping, we are proposing, together with the municipality, the meandering of the Prušánky river, accompanied by several pools and tree planting. In the same village, we are working closely with the municipality on a project of retention measures in the Přední hora area to reduce the likelihood of repeated flooding of the village and extensive damage during increasingly frequent heavy rainfall. In Moravská Nová Ves we supported, and together with the municipal leadership completely organised, a large-scale tree planting in the heart of the village at the village square by the church.
The Climate Action Support Center (CSAC) of the Politehnica University Timişoara
The Climate Action Support Center (CSAC) of the Politehnica University Timişoara, founded at the end of 2024 through the ELCA project, is an initiative dedicated to countering climate change by promoting research, innovation and technology transfer. CSAC's mission is to stimulate research activity and support the implementation of practical solutions in the field of climate action, thus aligning with the European strategy for the transition to a climate-neutral economy.
The center pursues a series of ambitious objectives, including increasing the visibility of research activities in the field of climate change, developing specialized human resources, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration and encouraging national and international partnerships. CSAC also plays an essential role in adapting university research to society's needs and supports local and regional initiatives to achieve climate neutrality goals.
The address of the center is: Strada Ioan Curea no. 1A, Timisoara 300224 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/WbwnknpYdjmjrVn38 )
CSAC invites teachers, researchers, students and external partners to collaborate in identifying and applying innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
